The increasing demands of safety, cost reduction, or weight reduction on components call for new, multifunctional materials. Mechanical metamaterials, such as auxetic materials, provide enhanced properties due to a specially tailored microstructure. negative Poisson's ratio auxetics, instance, increases the impact and thermal shock resistance. Herein, parametrized model modified structure is simulated using finite-element software ABAQUS. Three out five geometry parameters are varied between minimum maximum value establish their energy absorption capacity design experiment (DoE). All eight resulting structures additively manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) experimentally investigated under uniaxial compression validate simulations. size unit cell has biggest both target values.
